Yoga for Healthy Aging

Mondays & Wednesdays

10:30a - 12:00p

Cuatro Vientos

Private Groups

Some people prefer to practice outside the studio, under a palapa with friends. If you have the space and five or more like-minded souls who are willing to commit to regular attendance, let’s talk. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too!

Individual Sessions

Sometimes, injuries happen and participating in a studio class is not an option. If you need help rehabbing, or you want to practice yoga with a targeted focus and individualized attention, I can tailor 1:1 classes to your needs.

Yoga for Healthy Aging is rooted in the Iyengar tradition of hatha yoga. The poses in Yoga for Healthy Aging are carefully selected to cultivate strength, flexibility, balance, and agility, which help us to maintain physical health and autonomy as we age.

Students are encouraged to listen to their bodies and move at their own pace. I give individualized attention as needed to help each person find the best position for their body.

Classes begin with a gentle warmup to stretch the muscles, warm up the joints and prepare us to go deeper into the asanas. We end the class with pranayama and mindfulness meditation, which help bring equanimity to accept the inevitable changes and challenges that come with aging.

Together, we use movement, breath and awareness to find our edges and tune in to the present moment.

Other classes

  • If you are looking for a safe, quiet space to relax and unwind, this is the class for you. We use bolsters, blankets and other props to create comfortable, supportive positions that allow the nervous system to shift into a more restful state.

  • In this class we target different areas of the body to stretch and strengthen. From increasing shoulder mobility, to lengthening tight hip flexors and building core muscles, this class is designed to support a variety of athletic pursuits.
